Edinburgh Airport Announces Hainan Airlines Growth Plans

Edinburgh Airport has this week unveiled the growth plans that Chinese carrier Hainan Airlines will be implementing for next year.

The Chinese carrier is known for services from Beijing, and also services Manchester.

Services will begin on May 17 next year, and end on October 26, which represents an additional nine weeks of operation from Edinburgh with Hainan Airlines.

Between June 1 and September 30, flights will operate on a four times per week basis, with the other dates around that seeing twice-weekly.

Gordon Dewar, the CEO of the airport said the following on this news:

“It’s great to see our partners at Hainan Airlines grow their presence at Edinburgh Airport and maintain that crucial direct connectivity between Scotland and China.

“We know there is a continued attractiveness and allure of Scotland as an international destination, and that is acutely felt in China where our stunning scenery, our world-renowned food and drink, and our well sought after educational institutions are all highly regarded.

“These additional flights will also offer people in Scotland more opportunities to experience China and increase the potential for closer working and investment prospects for businesses both at home and abroad.”

All eyes will be on how this service to Beijing from Edinburgh will perform for Hainan Airlines next year, as well as whether there is additional scope to expand this further going into the future.
