An ideal road for a round-the-island tour has been officially opened in China’s island province of Hainan. This road spans across 12 coastal cities and counties in the southern province, offering travelers the opportunity to explore diverse landscapes and scenic spots throughout the area. Local officials in Hainan and business representatives gathered at an opening ceremony on Monday, celebrating the full operation of what is designated as China’s No. 1 National Coastal Scenic Avenue.
LIU XIAOMING, Governor of Hainan Province “Today, the Hainan Round-The-Island Tourist Road is fully completed and open to traffic. This is a significant and crucial event in Hainan’s accelerated construction of a free trade port, and the process of building an international tourism and consumption island.”
The road is around 988 kilometers long. It’s one of China’s 25 national ecological scenic roads. From beaches, gardens and ethnic minority villages to mountains and farmlands, tourists will be able to have a comprehensive view of different attractions and landscapes of Hainan throughout their journey.
HUANG PENG, Chief Engineer and Spokesperson, Hainan Provincial Department of Transportation “The road connects 84 scenic spots of 9 different types along the Hainan coastline. We expect that after the road is opened, one-third of the tourists coming to Hainan Island will choose to travel along the road. This will allow for an even distribution of tourists to appreciate various scenic spots.”
Hainan is renowned for its beautiful natural environment. A national plan is in place to develop it into an international hub for consumer spending and tourism. The road is aimed to further expand the current tourism market and promote more publicity of different places, which is a plan that’s welcomed by businesses.
