The airport company said the decrease was driven by a fall (unspecified) in duty-free sales and advertising revenue.<\/p>\n<p>The franchise income decline led to a -4.5% year-on-year decrease in first-half non-aeronautical revenue to RMB545.6 million (US$76.6 million).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_425838\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-425838\"><a href=\"https:\/\/moodiedavittreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Hainan-Meilan-h1-results-26.8.24.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-425838\" src=\"https:\/\/moodiedavittreport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Hainan-Meilan-h1-results-26.8.24.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1020\" height=\"703\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-425838\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Source: Hainan Meilan Airport Company<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Passenger numbers increased +20% year-on-year to almost 14.5 million with domestic traffic (key to the offshore duty-free business) up +17%. International passenger volume recovered to 85% of 2019 levels.<\/p>\n<p>Total revenues rose +7.8% to RMB1,149,277,255 (US$161.4 million). Note the deteriorating per-passenger duty-free spend.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The airport company attributed the declines to an increase in Chinese outbound travel to Southeast Asia and other countries.
