(hereinafter referred to as “Haiken Cold Chain”), a joint venture of CIMC Group and Haiken Group held the first promotional event for the full cold chain demonstration project for mangoes and tropical fruits and vegetables in Sanya city, Hainan province. The event, themed “Cold Chain for Rural Revitalization, One Place with One Special Product for Agricultural Reclamation”, comprehensively showcased the blueprint for the planning of the “1+8+N” cold chain logistics system.

It was learnt that the “1+8+N” cold chain logistics system involves the construction of “1” operating platform, “8” cold chain collection and distribution centers for agricultural products, and “N” cold storage and preservation facilities in the producing areas, which will effectively integrate primary processing, storage and preservation, cold chain distribution and other supporting facilities for Hainan’s agricultural products, forming a comprehensive service platform in the producing areas for transporting agricultural products out of Hainan. The system is planned to be constructed over 3 to 5 years, with a total investment of RMB1.5 billion to RMB2 billion. Once completed, it is expected to facilitate the circulation of approximately 1.5 million tons of agricultural products annually, and reduce the losses of agricultural products by 5%, which will save more than RMB800 million.

In January this year, CIMC Cold Chain, a member of CIMC Group, and Hainan Nongken Trade and Logistics Industry Group Co., Ltd., a member of Haiken Group, jointly formed Haiken Cold Chain to build a cold chain logistics system and demonstration project covering the entire Hainan region, which aims to promote a full cold chain system from production, collection, storage, transportation, and consumption. According to the plan, both parties will leverage their respective strengths and collaborate closely to establish their business layout in Hainan, actively responding to the national policies on rural revitalization, and jointly promoting the construction of cold chain logistics of agricultural products.

At this promotional event, the first full cold chain demonstration project for mangoes and tropical fruits and vegetables was presented as CIMC’s inaugural demonstration project in Hainan, which has a total site area of approximately 70 mu, and possesses nearly 10,000 square meters of processing workshops and nearly 5,000 cubic meters of refrigerators. It is also equipped with two automated sorting and packaging lines for premium mangoes and mangoes to be sold through e-commerce channels, with more than 600 tons of mangos traded each day and 80,000 to 100,000 tons of mangoes circulated and traded annually.

Notably, CIMC has extended the shelf life of mangoes to 30 days through its self-developed air controlled warehouses, significantly reducing the losses of agricultural products, enabling off-peak sales, and effectively addressing the challenges relating to transportation of agricultural products out of Hainan. The completion of this project fills the gap in cold chain logistics for Hainan, and plays a crucial role in extending the sales cycles of agricultural products, increasing farmers’ income and contributing to rural revitalization.

[6
